    Brother and sister

Yesterday, Marshall was a bit wary of being picked up at ‘school’ by Grampy, because he had it in his head that Mommy was going to be the one getting him.

However, he did end up leaving the schoolgrounds and cooled his jets after a while. He wasn’t interested in seeing any pictures of his new sister, nor did he want anything to do with going near any hospital. That is until his mom told him there would be elevators and that her room was kind of like that of a hotel. Then he couldn’t get out the door fast enough. So funny.

So they came over and met Ella and toured the hospital a bit. He was curious and seemed proud of his baby sister.

This morning, as we were leaving the house to go to ‘school’, he says, “I want to go by the hospital first to say bye to Mommy and Baby Ella before going to school.” Even though it hadn’t been part of the plan, it turned out to be a delightful idea. He gave Ella kisses and hugs and got to hold her on his lap.

So far, they seem like perfect little siblings!

How sweet! It’s good to be adaptable with plans when they have a tendency to change like that…. good job!

      Ricky, Tamara & Marshall,
Congratulations on the newest addition to your family. Ella looks like a beautiful baby! Aunt Jude told me you were online so I wanted to pass along our best wishes to you all!
      Love from,
Julie, Bruce (and the other) Marshall :)

    The drugs

As you can see here, she is all hooked up and still tweeting away on her iPhone. The petocin drip started at 11:20 and they are making preparations for an eventual epidural.

    Things are moving along

9 am here and an electrode has been introduced to break the water. Things should start moving within the next couple of hours.

    Bathtime burden

For some reason, Marshall has refused to sit down in the tub since Saturday. That makes four baths that have taken place in the standing position. I can’t think of anything that has occured that might have led to this new behaviour – but he may have developed a fear of the shower.

In any case, it has made the evening ritual a bit more challenging. Any suggestions? He’s pretty determined to remain standing…

Not very helpful, but you’ve got no comments so I thought I’d leave one.

    Tooth!

Marshall’s first tooth cut through his gums last night (bottom front, his left)!  Also, he likes to try and clap his hands, especially to the song “If you’re happy and you know it” :) Also, we bought a house in Moncton!  More on that later.

    rollin’ rollin’ rollin’

I guess it’s been almost a month since I last posted – how did that happen?  I guess we got busy. :)

We had a playdate with my friend Katie and her daughter Madison on a saturday.  They were adorable together.  Madison is about 2 months older than Marshall.

Marshall has pretty much mastered the art of rolling.  He can now roll front to back, back to front, and can get across the floor a little ways by doing this.  He rolls to get his toys, then rolls back on his back to play with them.  He can also sit for a short time by himself (a few minutes – or until he leans his head to the side, then he goes over – that is a big heavy head)

We took a trip to Moncton last weekend but forgot to take any pictures!

We have added some more pics!

What else… Rick and I went to see the Barenaked Ladies last night with some friends – it was a really great show!

    Videos

Four new videos have been added to our library for your viewing pleasure!

Marshall is currently in his swing and seems to be lulled by Led Zeppelin. How is everybody out there? Enjoying the web site? Looking forward to Christmas? We haven’t had many comments lately – don’t be shy! Marshall is going to meet a lot of new people over the holidays!

We ordered a new batch of our favourite cloth diapers “Fuzzi Bunz”. He is outgrowing the small ones already. Also, it seems that breastmilk and formula is not keeping the little guy full through the night anymore, so we are going to introduce some pablum to him. He is so sweet – and he loves all his toys. It’s so hard not to spoil him!

I am off to play squash in a while, then coming home to prepare a turkey dinner just because I enjoy it so much.

    6 week post-natal checkup

Marshall’s latest visit to the doctor went well. He is now 12 lbs 4 oz (75th percentile; same as at birth), and 62 cm or 24.4 inches long (97th percentile!). His melon circumference clocks in at 40 cm, but we haven’t really been tracking that one. He gets his first vaccinations in just less than 2 weeks now.

    First doctor’s appointment

Our beefy boy with a hearty appetite has gained back most of the weight he lost! He’s now up to 8lbs 12oz. His colour is great. The doctor noted that he has blue fingernails and I really don’t see what he’s talking about, but they haven’t changed since last week, so that was fine.

We stopped in to see Leanne at Rick’s office again on the way home. Marshall needed a snack anyway. Then we parked downtown Dartmouth and took a stroll around the block – we needed to drop off some papers at the bank and drop off some library books. And we got Marshall’s first library card! (we are such nerds ;) )

More pics have been uploaded here!

    Concert

It may have been the Junos in Halifax last night, but our baby was dancing to his own tune as we were trying to fall asleep. Perhaps he was protesting the loss of an hour from the previous night – I know I sure don’t like it. Whatever the case, we hope he keeps his beats and thumps to a minimum when it’s time for sleeping.
