Camping: check
We ended up splitting the difference: just one night at Murray Beach instead of the planned 2. This was due to the severe weather that was expected to roll into the area (and eventually did), so it all worked out really well. In fact, we didn’t even think we were going to be able to stay because the wind was initially so strong that I didn’t stand any chance of getting the tent up. Luckily, it died down a bit, and I managed to get it standing with a little help. Marshall and I had a really great time, and probably wouldn’t have lasted the second night anyway.
One thing about this place was that the ‘camp cops’ seemed to be pretty intense. They don’t much like noise or conversation of any kind after the sun goes down. Regardless, we managed to have our marshmallows, some jiffy pop, and the boys sat around after the kids went to bed (the girls had their own fire). I was glad to have borrowed a Coleman stove, which allowed me to make coffee and some awesome bacon the next morning. I think I’ve also been crowned Jiffy Pop king, which means I’ll be responsible to make the popcorn every year.
Today was a weird day, because I was both lazy and busy at different intervals. Managed to catch the final soccer game, got the floors washed, and penned some invitations for Marshall’s birthday. Pretty tired now though, so I better cap the weekend. Later!
