    It’s been a busy 3 weeks

    Ella turned 3 weeks yesterday!

We’ve been busy trying to keep up with the uploading of pictures, but I haven’t posted to let everyone know they’re there until now! Have a look!

Ella is a great baby. She loves to be held … all the time! She doesn’t care for soothers much, but we can get her to take one for a little bit and sometimes she’ll fall asleep with it.

She’s been a champion feeder. She lost 8.2% of her birthweight (7lbs 13oz when we left the hospital on friday) and gained 4oz in 3 days before our breastfeeding clinic appointment. We started giving her some formula at night in hopes that she’ll sleep longer. Currently on breastmilk alone she’ll sleep for 1.5 hours or so in her bed, but in the carseat … hours!

She seems to like her sling pretty well, but it gets a bit heavy on my back after a while… I’m working up to it! She also likes her swing for a bit each day, which gives me a little break to get some things done around the house. :)

We haven’t had a chance to thank everyone for their wonderful gifts and cards… working on it! Thanks everyone!

Me and the kids are heading to Fredericton for Easter Weekend so Rick has some time to study for his exam coming up next weekend … The Easter Bunny has been very good to Marshall ;)

    Brother and sister

Yesterday, Marshall was a bit wary of being picked up at ‘school’ by Grampy, because he had it in his head that Mommy was going to be the one getting him.

However, he did end up leaving the schoolgrounds and cooled his jets after a while. He wasn’t interested in seeing any pictures of his new sister, nor did he want anything to do with going near any hospital. That is until his mom told him there would be elevators and that her room was kind of like that of a hotel. Then he couldn’t get out the door fast enough. So funny.

So they came over and met Ella and toured the hospital a bit. He was curious and seemed proud of his baby sister.

This morning, as we were leaving the house to go to ‘school’, he says, “I want to go by the hospital first to say bye to Mommy and Baby Ella before going to school.” Even though it hadn’t been part of the plan, it turned out to be a delightful idea. He gave Ella kisses and hugs and got to hold her on his lap.

So far, they seem like perfect little siblings!

How sweet! It’s good to be adaptable with plans when they have a tendency to change like that…. good job!

    Pool results

I was going to enter the actual results to see who scored highest in the pool, and it dawned on me that I still don’t know what colour her eyes are! They haven’t been open very much. Will have to check tomorrow.

    The drugs

As you can see here, she is all hooked up and still tweeting away on her iPhone. The petocin drip started at 11:20 and they are making preparations for an eventual epidural.

    Baby update

I was in the hospital yesterday morning and they checked me out and took some blood and determined I should go back today for induction. So today I went in at 5pm and got checked out and had Cervidil inserted, monitored the baby’s heartbeat for 2 hours, then came home.

Labour could start on its own tonight, but unlikely. I am to remove this cervidil business at 6:10am and call the labour ward to see if I’m cleared to go in, and they’ll do either more gel or the drip to get things started. Looks good for a March 8th baby at this point ;)

    Maternity photos

I forgot to mention that I finally decided to have some maternity photos done by Gretchen at Blue Chair Photo and she did an amazing job!

She sent us a few to give us a sneak peek (and for our facebook profiles etc.) And the rest will be coming in the next week or two. I added them to the Belly#2 album if you’d like to view them!
