It really is hard to believe 3 years have gone by already. But here we are!
Marshall’s birthday was Saturday the 18th of July, and we celebrated by taking the REAL TRAIN to Sackville, NB! Marshall was thrilled. At one point on the ride, he said “Mommy, this is the best train ride ever!”. He was a little scared to get on it at first, but once in his seat, he settled right in. Some people walked by our seats and he asked what they were doing. I told him they were going for a walk on the train. So of course he wanted to go for a walk on the train too. I figured we’d walk back to the observation car and that would be pretty cool. It was a loooong walk! And when we got there, there was a sign saying only passengers from certain cars were allowed to enter. So we headed back, and Marshall got tired and wanted me to carry him, but there was no room for carrying in those hallways. *L* We made it back to our seats just in time to see the town of Sackville coming into view. Good thing we didn’t go into the observation car or we wouldn’t have made it back in time. And the train was in a hurry too because it was an hour late. We rushed off the train and it left practically as soon as we hit the pavement!
It wasn’t a very nice day for walking in the Marsh, so we drove around a bit looking for some bluegrass concert that was advertised, but it must have been for later in the evening. We drove over a covered bridge and saw some cows and Marshall was looking pretty drowsy so we headed back to Moncton. Marshall had a nice nap in the car and then we took him to Crystal Palace and Pizza Delight for dinner (his choice).
Sunday was his birthday party. He slept in until after 8am (big day Saturday!), and Rick and I started talking to each other loudly about whose birthday party was today, maybe Kitty Kat’s? Or Grampy’s? hm… and he finally piped up from the next room: Nooooo….It’s my party! He was pretty excited. When we got downstairs and he saw the helium balloons he started yelling that it was a BALLOON PARTY!!! Then he ran into the office and grabbed the gift that Nana had mailed and started trying to open it and saying this present was for him! We told him he had to wait for his friends to arrive though.
Marco and Dante (cousins, both 3 – his friends from his daycare), Will (3, our friends Heather and Steve’s son), Marek (2, from across the street), Boris and Lukas (2 and 7weeks, Rick’s coworkers boys), and Max (7, my step-bro’s son) were all in attendance. (Along with their parents and a bunch of my family) They had a grand time playing with all of Marshall’s toys (and I have yet to get to the bottom of the mess) and the balloons. He got a lot of wonderful gifts! He had 2 cakes because we wanted to make sure there was enough. He specifically requested a Mickey Mouse cake, so there was a huge Mickey Mouse ice cream cake from DQ, and a Mickey chocolate cake from Sobeys, both thanks to dad. Both were delicious. The chocolate cake was gone by day 2 and we’re still eating the ice cream cake, although there are only 2 peices left now.
