October update

October 30th, 2008 · Posted by Tamara · 2 Comments

Things have been pretty busy lately… we started a new eating plan to get back on track to healthy, and it’s taking a lot of time!  (and a lot of fridge space for all the produce we’re eating: LOADS of fruit and veggies)  So far, we’re both feeling a lot better.  I have lost 9.5lbs so far (in 2 weeks!).

Marshall has been having some bedtime issues…he fights bedtime so hard.  He tries everything.  Lately, he’s been on this kick where he tells us he’s hungry.  And who wants their kid to be hungry, right?  Except now we think it’s just a trick to get ust o come up to his room.  :(   It’s so hard to tell.  I think we’re going to have to get all tough-love on him and soon.  Every night it takes him over an hour of yelling at us and us going up and down the stairs before he finally settles down.

Lately, we have a new morning routine which is working well and Marshall seems to enjoy it.  I get up to shower, and turn on the Blue’s Clues (we got 9 tapes for $5 on kijiji!) and I lay out an outfit and a diaper.  At some point while I’m in the shower, Rick will change Marshall while he’s watching his show, and then he heads to the shower.  I go down and start the coffee etc. and when Blue’s Clues is over, Marshall will come down for some breakfast.  Sometimes it varies a bit, but this is kind of the standard.

Marshall loves to sing along with Steve on the show and even does his little “magic hands” at the end of the song *giggle*  super. cute.  Then the other day, he was playing with the little notebooks that mom gave him for hallowe’en, and he dropped one and goes “oopth!  I dropped handy dandy notebook!” SERIOUSLY.  How much cuter can he get???

He really likes doing his ghost noise and arms to “scare” people.

We’ll add some pics and videos soon.. he’s been so hilarious lately there’s lots to put up.

On Saturday, we went to a hallowe’en party at Fairlanes bowling alley, then to the playground, then to soccer, then to Dairy Queen for a treat with our friends and their son Will, and their nephews Aiden and Dawson, and then picked up daddy from his exam.  It was a big morning!

Sunday we went for a really long walk in Mapleton Park and saw birds and squirrels, then went to have some lunch at Grampy’s house for a visit.  I had to go into work for a few hours in the afternoon, and Marshall helped daddy carve the pumpkin in the evening.

Well that’s the update for now… I’ve been at a client’s with no internet for the last 2 weeks, so I have some catching up to do…  I’d better get to work!

Congrats on the commitment to healthier eating. And a big congrats on the weightloss! It is very time consuming preparing everything but it is so worth it when you realize how much better you feel when you’re eating fresh ingredients and you know exactly everything you are putting into your body. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing the new pics and video. What is Marshall going to be for Halloween?
