    more music

Marshall has started doing this god-awful high-pitched screaming and he says he’s singing.

Last night we started singing songs to him - teapot/frere jacques which have been his recent favourites, but he wanted a “new song!” so we did row row row your boat, and you are my sunshine.  He likes learning the words to new songs apparently – he picks up them really quickly and does the last word of each line.

When he brushes his teeth we do the Raffi song that goes with it: “when you wake up in the morning and it’s quarter to two and you’re looking around for something to do, you brush your teeth ccch chchchchchchch! you brush your teeth chch chch chch chch ch!” and he really likes it STILL.  He has started singing it with us now too.

    ****

Lately, Marshall’s habit has been to go to bed, but not to sleep until after he’s had a poop.  Almost every night it’s the same:  5-15 minutes after he’s been left in his room alone it’s “moooooommy!  I pooooooped!” and sure enough, if there isn’t a poop there, he’s completely soaked through his diaper and leaked on the bed or something. *L* so we change him and usually he goes right to sleep after that.

Last night he stayed up until 930pm!  Just restless I guess.

Tonight grampy’s babysitting while Rick and I head to the Blue Man Group.

    The little things

Things I forget to write about:

“eat up! eat up mommy! eat up daddy!” – not sure where he got this from

“mommy!  Dance to my song!” – as he pounds on the piano

“coffee for you!” – he hands me or Rick a pretend coffee – “it’s hot!”  “put it there” “ok not hot now!” “drink it!”

“mommy sad!” – hugs me – “ok mommy happy now!”  “mommy sad!” (urging me to be sad again – fun game!)

He has been taking everything off the floor of his room – books, toys, blankets etc. and piling them on his bed and then falling asleep on the pile of things.

He knows “I’m a little teapot” and parts of “wheels on the bus”

He goes “hmmmm…” in the cutest way possible.

He goes “uuuuuuuh…” in the cutest way possible.  I thought it was really funny how he did it. Then I did it one day and realized I AM WHERE HE GOT THIS FROM.

Thursday night he was having a hard time getting to sleep.  I was watching Grey’s so Rick went up and I listened to the monitor in case he needed some assistance.  I heard Rick go: “oh.  hm.  um… ok…. uuuhh…oh my!” or something to that effect.  So up I ran, envisioning poop everywhere.

There was Marshall standing at the baby gate on his bedroom door with bare shoulders.  (we had put him to bed in a fuzzy sleeper) … his diaper was cinched down a bit but not off and no poop was escaping.  However.  He had been yelling for us to come up and we figured he was just up to some tricks, so we had ignored him for a while hoping he’d just go to sleep… so he decided that since we weren’t coming, he’d have to change his bum himself.  The disposable liners that we have on a big roll… there was about 20 feet of it unravelled all around him *LOL*  I guess he figured it was toilet paper or something.

He pointed at all the kittens in the book we read tonight and told me which ones were “mathco” and which ones were “therguth” (Dad’s cats: Tabasco and Fergus)

Today he went insane at The Children’s Place and started pushing little piles of tiny jeans and t-shirts off the tables onto the floor and then crawled around them.  I was glad to finally get to Wal-mart and contain the monster in a cart.  hehehe

Today we shared a caramel corretto at Second Cup – I gave him a couple of spoonfuls of my whipped cream – and he had a macaroon.  You could just see the enjoyment bursting out of his eyes.  Then he ran off and I had to gather everything up in a hurry and chase him as he hunted for horsies to ride.

Hmmmm… that was before we went to the Children’s Place.  *LOL*

At the market today there was a giant blowup cat (for the Moncton Wildcats) at the entry and we had to walk through its mouth.  Marshall was SO EXCITED.

We did everything to the max today.  market:  strawberry orange juice, samples of cookies.  mall: aforementioned coffee/treats. Then we hit McD’s and Tim’s for lunch at Grampy’s.  Pizza (Delissio) for supper.  Cupcakes from the cakebox for dessert.  oh. my. god.  No wonder he didn’t get to sleep until 930 tonight!  Tomorrow it’s all veggies all day I swear.  And crafting.  Marshall loves crafts.  It’s raining here this weekend, and a hurricane is apparently on its way this week.

    Back to reality

At last my exams are over, but that means it’s back to work tomorrow!

We had a very busy and fun weekend!

Friday afternoon I spent a few hours at the spa (pedicure, facial, massage and express mani!) and Rick had a massage as well.  My mom arrived to look after Marshall while Rick and I had a nice dinner out at Maverick’s and a movie.

Saturday morning we hit the Moncton Market, then Mom had to hit the road for Halifax, and Rick had to hit the books.   So Marshall and I picked up Val and Max and took a drive to Belliveau Orchard for some apple-picking.  We got home a bit late for Marshall’s nap, but luckily he eventually did get to sleep so we were able to head to a nice birthday dinner at Mary’s for Mary and Randy.

Today we went up to a playground near Mary’s to play with Max again… they seem to really hit it off!  hehe best buds! :)   After that, we went in search of Glarro Farms for open farm day.  We met up with our neighbours Marie-Claude and her son Marek.  Marshall got to sit on some big tractors and pet a horse, see bunnies and a chicken, and go on a long wagon ride through the woods, and finally get really close to some cows.

Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to use the bathroom at the farm (I know!!!??) so we didn’t stick around after that because I really couldn’t hold it any longer!  We zoomed home to get Rick to his study group and Marshall to his nap, then I ran out to a bellyfit class, then ran home so Rick could head to a hockey game with our neighbour Sam, and then he picked up some chinese food.

And now… I am up way too late and it’s my first day back at work tomorrow!  Eek!

Pics to come soon! (Val has the apple-pics ;) )

    August pics

Oops – I accidentally posted this as a page instead of an entry a while back (aug 24th):

    Just posted some new pics.

Saturday we went to see Caillou at the Pays de la Sagouine with Marie-Claude (neigbour) and her son, Marek.  The boys enjoyed the show, and actually I did too – it was fairly short.  There was lots of music and dancing, and all in french.  Now Marshall can say “bonjour”!  We did a little tour of the boardwalk they have set up there called i’ile aux puces – it’s a little acadian fishing village that’s set up to show how they lived and there’s a lot of entertainment going on there.  We had some Chicken Fricot for lunch. (like chicken soup but with dumplings in it)

On Sunday, we were going to take Marshall to Will’s birthday party, but a friend expressed concern over my potential case of the shingles (very mild, nothing to worry about), and so I decided not to go.  Rick was going to bring Marshall, but we got a call a couple of hours beforehand that they’d rather we didn’t go “just in case”, due to some conerns expressed etc.  So that was disappointing.  However, I don’t think Marshall noticed.  Tonight, Will’s mom stopped by to give us Marshall’s loot bag and some cupcakes and to tell us how sorry she was, which was really sweet of her.  That makes it 2 for 2 since we couldn’t make Will’s 1st birthday party because Marshall had a fever… *L*

I can hear Marshall calling my name… he’s still not sleeping and it’s almost 10pm.  This is bound to happen when we have to leave earlier than usual tomorrow, of course!

    1 week to go

1 week left to study for the big exams, and I’m edgy as heck.  So in case you think I’m avoiding you, I probably am!

After Marshall’s bath tonight, I noticed a little brown dot on his finger and tried to rub it off.  But it wasn’t dirt.  It was a freckle!  Hee!  First freckle!

This weekend we went to Uncle Jamie’s place to see the Balloon Fiesta.  On our way into Sussex we saw tons of hot air balloons hovering in the sky.  We didn’t get up early enough Saturday morning to see them take off at 630am though.  But we did enjoy walking around the fair grounds.  We played a bunch of games and Jamie was the one who won the teddy bear for Marshall.  I won him a tiny little orange puppy and a little Spongebob.  I also blew a bunch of money trying for a giagantic Big Bird.  *L*  We perused the craft fair, and Marshall got to try a few rides, danced to some really bad music, and attempted to get in the giant bouncy castle, but he was too scared to go further than the doorway.

Unfortunately, I seem to have pulled something in my lower back, so I’ve been walking kind of funny since yesterday (kind of bent over a bit), but it seems to be getting better now.  Deep Cold seems to do the trick.

Next weekend Marshall will be going for a visit to Gram’s place and enjoying some of the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, while Rick and I get some things done around the house and squeeze some last studying in.
