    Big week!

Just added some pics of Marshall’s cast and also his first “real” haircut!  We all had our ‘hairs’ cut on Wednesday.  Marshall was a good boy although it did take some bribery (treeeeaaat!).

You can see them in May 2008.

Far too much time being spent in hospitals

Sadly, our little boy had a bit of a fall yesterday that caused him arm to be sore. At first, it seemed like no big deal – but after some time passed, it became obvious that he was in a lot of pain. Tamara brought him to the clinic and they said he should get some x-rays. So I took him to my favourite hangout lately. Emergency. And they were great about it. Despite being through radiology twice and the waiting room three times, we left just before 11 pm with a fresh fibreglass cast on his arm. It’s not a big fracture, but the doctor felt it best to mobilize his arm for now. On top of this, I managed to lose my wallet this week, which bites since our big trip to Toronto starts on Sunday. I keep reminding myself that it could be worse. But obviously not the best week on record.

Aww, the brave little guy! Is everyone drawing pretty pictures on it for him? Does he think it’s cool?
Thank god it wasn’t a worse break, I’d have been a basket case.

    May Long Weekend

Wow – we had some great adventures this weekend!

We drove to Halifax Saturday morning, and had lunch with Michelle and Jamie at Jean’s – one of Rick’s faves.   They have wicked awesome Ginger Beef and the Chow Mein and eggrolls are awesome too.  Also, they have the meatiest chicken balls I’ve ever encountered.  MMMM!

Then we went to the mall because it was raining quite hard, and what do you do when you have a toddler and it’s raining?  heh.  Marshall had napped in the car on the way down, so he was good to go for the day.  We paid $2 for a “taxi” which was this little push-car for driving around the mall.  Marshall loved it – he kept yelling at us to go and he’d pretend to steer the thing.  We shopped and visited some more with the Hanways, then picked up some wine at Bishop’s, the local private wine store we like, checked into our suite at the Bluenose Inn, and then we were off again, to John & Rhia’s housewarming party!

John & Rhia bought their first house and moved into it last month.  We were really excited to see them and their new place, and also all the new babies that have been born since we moved away.  Just last month, our friends Eden and Michael had a little girl, Isadora Nico and our other friends Michelle and Dave had a little girl Michaela aabout a week before that.

Marshall was a bit shy at the party at first, but Rhia got him giggling before long.  And then their friends Beth and Iain arrived with their daughter Rowan who is close to Marshall’s age.  We sang some songs and got them dancing a bit.  Then a tide of adult party guests arrived, and suddenly the house was full of people, and Marshall was getting in the way on the stairs – he really liked climbing their stairs – up and down up and down… and weaving around legs and running around, and daddy was behind him as much as he could be and was getting worn out.

We headed back to our suite and Marshall was WIRED FOR SOUND.  *L*  We finally got him settled though and he fell asleep around 930 and we watched a little tv.  We chose a really good motel … he had his own little room (living/kitchen area) and the drapes were DARK.  Which meant that he slept in!  Until 830!  whoot!

We met Dan & Pauwlina for brunch at Smitty’s, and we had a great visit and yummy skillets.  Marshall didn’t care too much for his french toast and sausage but he did eat a bite or two – guess we let him have too much juice before breakfast!

From there we zipped over to Dartmouth to see Dave, Michelle and Michaela for a short visit, then over to Dartmouth Crossing to see how it looks.  We came across this bizarre fake downtown.  It was pretty cool actually.  But it was a little weird to drive out to box-land and then park between these two rows of box stores, with main-street-type facades…they’ve even got more than one “street” and they’re building a little stone bridge and everything.  It’s much nicer than Bayer’s Lake (Halifax) or Trinity (Moncton).

Marshall was getting droopy so we hit the road.  He slept for about an hour, then we stopped in Oxford for a break.  We got subs and had a little picnic, then played on the slide in the playground across the street.  The playground there was in bad need of repair, but Marshall still enjoyed it!

From there, the weather just kept getting better and better, so we stopped in Sackville to walk on the Waterfowl Park boardwalks.  Marshall couldn’t get enough of this.  He walked most of the way by himself!  We held his hand a lot because we were worried he fall and slip into the water though.  We saw a couple of nice-looking red-winged blackbirds, and a beaver was swimming around.

We arrived home and I did a little potting of plants while Marshall dragged all his toys out from the garage, and Rick unpacked the car.  Now M is upstairs sleeping soundly.  He had a great weekend!

Tomorrow:  going to work to catch up on a few things before I head out on another audit this week, and then vacation in Toronto for a week!  yay!

We added some new pics and a couple of videos here.

I checked out the link to Jeans and it really looks good. I’ll have to give it a try the next time the family is over that way and looking for a spot to eat.
I’ve been driving by your old house alot in the last few days. There are two other houses for sale now on Somerset and I’ve got clients looking in that area. I’m also going to list one soon on Sarnia. The house pretty much looks the same as it did when you were here.

    Baby bottles

Last night I returned 4 Avent baby bottles to Zeller’s for a $30 credit!  Too bad we’d thrown out another 4 before we found out about this!  We hadn’t gotten around to returning them, and found out yesterday that it was the last day they were accepting the returns without a receipt!  It didn’t matter that we never paid for any of them and that we used them for the last …almost 2 years.

This is all because of the BPA scare.  I felt sick about it when I first heard.

Also, Avent is offering free sippy cups and baby bottles to people if you call 1-866-624-1906.  They just ask for your name and address, email address, how many kids and how old.  We’re getting some new sippies for Marshall!

The person who answered the phone when I called was in Saint John, NB.  Weird.

    Mother’s Day update

Things are still quite busy at work, but that could be because of all the brain-dead days we had after tax season ended. *L*

We finally figured out how to get Marshall to sit in the tub without making him scream or cry. One night I filled the tub up to about twice what we usually put in it, and I was washing him as per usual, and he wanted to play with the bucket I’ve been rinsing him with. He was having a grand old time and every time he squatted down to fill it up, his bum got dunked. I thought this was pretty brilliant. Anyway, the next time we did that, he actually was having so much fun with the bucket and the water that he sat down and me and Rick pretended like we didn’t notice anything and made wink and faces at each and laughed along with him.

Yesterday, my boys picked me up at work and I opened the back door to give Marshall a big kiss and he was holding a gift! He was quite excited about opening it. It was a gift for mommy and daddy! So I told him he could open it for us right there. It was a scrapbook with pictures of him and his friends and a bunch of his artwork and a hand print. It was really well done and I almost cried on the spot! We have the best babysitter ever! We’re going to scan the pics – eventually – and load them up so you can see them.

Tonight we decided to go to Mike’s Restaurant on the spur of the moment and invited Dad along. Marshall showed him the book (I had brought it with me to show off at work today) and pointed out all his friends – actually he mostly pointed out his good buddy Dante ;) *giggle* so cute!

He’s been picking up words all the time – like tonight for example he was saying garage. He says so many words, but we can only figure out what they are about half the time.

Every day he wants outside outside outside, and as soon as we get outside he wants to go visit Tank, the dog next door. He just marches off into their backyard looking for him.

Tonight he petted Bounce on his own for the first time. She didn’t run away, and he just went over and touched her back really lightly. (then she ran away) *LOL* She usually runs out of the way pretty quick when she sees him coming. He likes to say “Hi Bonce!” when he sees her.

Tomorrow we’re going to pick up a cozy coupe that I found on kijiji – we’re taking it to Gram’s place next time we go to Fredericton. Soon Gram’s place will be the place to be – with the pool and the cozy coupe! And soon, her master bathroom will be all reno’d and fancy-like! Can’t wait to see it!

We’re also heading over to my friend Mandy’s place for a little visit and to pick up her baby ergo to try it out before deciding whether to buy one or not!

This weekend we’re heading to Mary’s for a mother’s day bbq, although it may be called off due to rain – I think we’ll have some take-out or something instead of it does.

Next weekend we’re heading to our old home … Halifax!  We’re looking forward to seeing as many of our friends as possible… and John and Rhia’s first home, meet Eden and Michael’s new baby Isadora, and Michelle and Dave’s new baby Michaela!  We’re hoping also to get a visit in Bridgewater!  It will be a jam-packed weekend!

Oh boy… I have lots to do!

    Meow

Well I think we’ve got the bath time problem fixed for now. Have I mentioned how vocal our cat has been lately? I mean, it has been going on for a while now, but since I came across this, it reminded me…
