    Bathtime burden

For some reason, Marshall has refused to sit down in the tub since Saturday. That makes four baths that have taken place in the standing position. I can’t think of anything that has occured that might have led to this new behaviour – but he may have developed a fear of the shower.

In any case, it has made the evening ritual a bit more challenging. Any suggestions? He’s pretty determined to remain standing…

Not very helpful, but you’ve got no comments so I thought I’d leave one.

    The awesome continues

I just got finished with the evening routine and Marshall has snugly retired to his crib. I managed to gather up his favourite nighttime belongings – particulary his KC or kitty cat. Tonight, he seemed very persistent for something as I was about to sneak off… he kept repeating what sounded like ‘keys’. I thought this is no time to be playing with keys, so I pretended to look around for what he was asking for over and over. There was no satisfying him. Kesh, kesh, kesh…. when suddenly it dawned on me that he was merely demanding his bedtime kiss. So I bent over the crib and planted one on his head, and he was immediately silenced. Man, I love that kid.

Visit from Grampa and Donna… and soccer too!

It has been a busy stretch, with Tamara working countless hours… but  we just came off of a great long weekend visit with Dad and Donna who drove down late last week. It took Marshall a little while to warm up to his Grampa, since it’s been nearly 8 months since their last visit. But it  soon turned into lots of laughing and some teasing and tickling – not to mention cookies and desserts! I took a vacation day on Monday and Marshall played hooky from daycare to do a bit of shopping. We ended up finding a few bargains for our guests, and had a smoked meat lunch at Costco before Marshall retired for his afternoon nap.

We might have figured out why Dad’s blood pressure has been high lately – apparently the refs aren’t calling a fair game for the Bruins…. but we’ll leave that discussion for another day.

I’m hoping to get Donna running on a Linux box that I sent back with her… that would certainly keep things running more current for her setup, which hasn’t been terribly stable. That, and I’m told their Windows machine sounds like it could take flight at any moment.

Well tonight, Marshall attended his first ever soccer practice called Soccer Tots (level 1). This consisted of some stretching, running around, tickling, blowing bubbles, singing songs, circling a parachute, and there was even some kicking of tiny soccer balls. I think Marshall is more of a football guy though, given his stance (going down on one knee). That, and he often just wants to pick up the ball and run away with it. Overall it was pretty awesome. We’ll have some pictures to post when we get around to unloading the camera (Tamara is so much better at it than me).

    April Showers

I will try to recapture in the short time that I have, the entry that I wrote last night when I was really tired and then didn’t wait long enough for it to publish and now it’s gone into the ether.

Marshall has been a busy boy!

He got pinkeye.  But it’s almost better now, and he had his first prescription.  Mommy got the bonus miles for that, which was a treat for her.  But putting the eyedrops in wasn’t much of a treat ;)   Marshall was a pretty good boy about it though.  Once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t so hard.  But once I got the hang of it, he did too and tried his best to keep his eyes shut or his hands over his eyes.

He can climb the stairs up and down all by himself and we’re only a teeny bit nervous.

He has been saying all kinds of new words:  socks, kittykat, go, lie down, up, downstairs, outside, meat, cheese, no, yep, please, thank you, dipit…

Dipit?  Yessir.  We served him some leftover roast beef one night and he ate all his beans and wouldn’t touch anything else.  Finally Rick suggested we try ketchup.  And told him he could dip it.  He started saying DIPIT! DIPIT! DIPIT!  and he did.  He dipped everything. heheheh but he ate it!

He has taken a special liking to Grampy’s banana bread.  The one he buys at the Irving especially for Marshall now.  One night at supper, he didn’t want to eat anything else on his plate and pointed at the fridge and yelled Bappy! Bappa! Bappa!  We realized he was asking for the banana bread that Bappy brought which was in the fridge.  He loves it with butter and with peanut butter.

The weather has been so nice here this week, we’ve gone out for some walks around the lake and around the neighbourhood.  Marshall likes riding in the stroller and when I say 1,2,3…. he says GO! and then I run.  It’s a fun game and I get a little more of a workout this way too.

He continues to enjoy pulling his wagon around.  It’s been in the garage since about Xmas.  Remember xmas eve we delivered xmas cards by wagon!  Well, it’s spring now and the wagon is out.  I think he likes pulling it around more than riding in it.

He likes to climb up into our bed and sit there and tells us to lie down and pats the pillows next to him.  He likes to jump on the bed, and turn on the tv.  And as always, loves being chased and tickled.

Marshall loves to play with my purse and pull everything out of it.  I’ve had to start keeping it where he can’t get to it.  I still can’t find my shopper’s optimum card!  He likes to put a bag (my purse, Rick’s bookbag) on his arm and walk around the house or the yard with it.

Pics have been added, and I have to get back to work!  So that’s all for now.

Unfortunately, the videos I uploaded a few weeks ago somehow didn’t make it to the google video.  Sometime in the next few weeks I’ll give it another shot.  I have a few more to add as well: Marshall walking around in my slippers, and splashing in the tub.

    been busy

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I’d let you know I haven’t given up on the blog or the pics, it’s just been really busy at work – I’ve been putting in some extra hours, so no time to update!

We have lots of pics on the camera to upload, and for some reason the videos I uploaded didn’t work, so I’ll get to that soon too.

Bob and Donna are coming this weekend – yay!

Looking forward to the visit to Toronto!  …that’s all for now…gotta get back to crunching numbers ;)

Here is a post orginal put up as a page by mistake:

    April Showers!

    Marshall has been so busy!

    1. He has pinkeye – but it’s almost gone now – he had his first prescription (which mommy got a bunch of bonus miles for filling – sweet), and he’s been pretty good about me putting them in.

    2.  He can climb up and down the stairs by himself, and I’m only a teeny bit nervous when he does it.

    3.  He can say lots of new words:  soother, socks, go, yep, kitty, meat, cheese, please, thank you, dipit…

So we gave him some roast beef dinner leftovers the other night and we couldn’t get him to eat any of the meat.  Finally Rick said “maybe I’ll give him some ketchup and maybe he’d like to dip it”… so he did… and Marshall loved it.  He gets ketchup and other dipping sauces at daycare.  He started saying dipit.

He also loves Grampy’s banana bread.  The one he buys at Irving.  With butter, or with peanut butter.  When he didn’t want his supper, he was pointing at the fridge going BAPPA BAPPY BAPPA.  We finally figured out that he wanted Bappy’s banana bread.  Although he hasn’t been calling my dad Bappy lately, which is too bad because we all find it quite amusing.  Dad even started signing emails and cards Bappy!  *giggle*

We’ve been having some excellent weather this week.  When I got to the car after work today it said it was 18C!  Marshall and I went for a walk around the lake on Sunday morning and when I say 123 and he says GO I run.  It was a fun game and got me a little extra workout.

We have some great videos to share… hopefully we can get the google video working again in the near future.  It just takes some time which we are short of lately.

This week:  work work work!  On friday night I’m getting a pedicure AT work.  sweet. Then bellydancing class, then relaxing and visiting for the weekend – looking forward to it!

    Enjoy the new pics!

    May trip to Toronto

A while back, we were able to take advantage of a one-day sale by WestJet. That is $39 each way between Moncton and Toronto. Hard to beat that, we thought…

So while the plan was for me to travel solo, we are now doing it as a family. The trouble is, we aren’t going to be there for a full weekend, which makes the visiting circuit a bit more challenging. In any case, we will be arriving on Sunday the 25th and going to Beaches for the night and part of Monday. We think we may crash West Hill on Monday evening, but that hasn’t been confirmed as of yet. Tuesday morning is free thus far, and we check in to a hotel in North York later in the day.

We thought we might try to see the Jays on Monday afternoon, but Marshall would likely find it too long and it falls right in the middle of nap time. So that is deferred until another trip.

In the meantime, we’re exploring other possibilities that don’t interfere terribly with naps and proper bedtimes. It is shaping up to be quite the adventure!
