Back to the grind!

So, we’ve been settling into a schedule, somewhat.  This was my first full week (4 whole days in a row) of work.  Things got a little crazy, but we managed.

It’s a slow time for my office right now, so it’s a great time to get used to things.  I’ve been out on an audit all week and it’s been … well the work isn’t fun, but the company is, and we get some nice lunches on the office.  So far we’ve had 2 luncheons at work already too, which were presentations about various financial services and we get free lunch when they do that too.  And, in November, there’s the annual PD week in Halifax, so I’m going down there for 2 days on courses as well.  So there’s certainly lots of variety.  Everyone at my office is easy to get along with so far.  We’re doing a baking swap and a secret santa!  Also, I’ve been included in a ladies lunch group which is a group of women from some different companies that get together and chat.

Marshall and Rick got their flu shots yesterday at the doctor’s office.  My office is getting ours for us on Monday.

Yesterday I took Marshall swimming in the toddler pool at the Y with our neighbour Marie-Claude and her 4-month-old son Marek.  It took him a little while to relax, but he finally did and enjoyed himself.  This morning, he had his first swimming lesson.  I went along this time to show Rick where to go and help him out a bit and Rick took him in for the lesson.  It was really cute watching them.  Every now and then he would see me and wave :)

Then there was playpals, which is an open gym time for children under 5.  Marshall had gotten up extra early this morning (6am) and wouldn’t nap prior to his swim lesson.  So, at playpals, he spotted this plastic car toy that you sit in and it’s like a Flintstone car because your feet stick out the bottom.  We got him in it and he was pretty comfortable.  He didn’t want to drive it, he just wanted to hang out in it.  *giggle*  So finally we took him out so other kids could have a chance to play with it.  He pushed it around for a while from the outside, and tried to drive it right out the door, presumably so he could take it home?  Then I took him away from it and put him on a slide, but nothing doing.  He wanted that car.  Even though another little had already gotten inside it.  He went right over and grabbed the front posts of it and wanted to drive her around!  I took him away again, and he threw a fit.  In the meantime, Rick ran into some dads that he knew from school and from the old Future Shop days.

From there we met up with Grampy Arnold at Jean’s for some brunch.  Marshall had finished with his tantrum and enjoyed visiting and having lunch there.  Now he’s passed out from all the excitement!

Next week we’re going to try Boo at the Zoo.  We were going to try that today, but Marshall’s just way too tired and it’s a pretty wet day.

Now, to get organized for next week!
