shots and visits
We got Marshall all dosed up with Tylenol for his 1 year shots and took him to the doctor’s office on the 19th only to wait around then find out that our doctor doesn’t do shots. Apparently the secretary wasn’t paying much attention to me when I told her why I was making the appointment. So that was a waste of time!
He did get his shots at public health the following week and it was terribly sad. He got 1 shot in each limb! He got Mengigitis, chicken pox, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and HepB. You never saw such a sad boy. He got over it in about 5 minutes though. He got tylenol until bedtime and then slept through the night.
My sister Stacey arrived on July 25th – our 4th wedding anniversary! The last time we saw her was at Easter. She’ll be in NB for another couple of weeks and will be Marshall’s temporary daycare while I’m on my course in Halifax next week. She looked after him for us while we went out and had a nice romantic dinner at Pastelli’s. Rick had the linguini putanesca which was a bit too salty (considering what was in it, no wonder!) and I had the coquille saint jacques. MMM. We had calamari to start, and a nutcracker (like a ferrero rocher) for dessert. It was divine! We also grilled our own bread and shared a bottle of australian red.
Marshall has been climbing the stairs to the 2nd floor. He’s also been taking a few steps here and there on his own. He still loves to dance and he’s got 4 teeth (3 on the bottom, and the top left front tooth), working on the 5th one now (top right front). Sometimes he talks up a storm. Sometimes he screams a lot then laughs. When he wants to go up the stairs and you block him with a baby gate, he gets really mad!
Last week, I had a job interview, and then I was offered a job (at a CA firm) and I will be starting work there October 1st! I write my exams Sept 18-20th, so that will leave me with a week off before I start, so I can spend some time with the little man and get myself ready to get back into the swing of things.
This weekend, Marshall had a grand time visiting with his gram in Fredericton and swimming in her pool (while I stayed home and got some studying done).
Today it continues to be very humid. We said goodbye to gram and auntie Stace, then walked to the park. M wasn’t interested in the swing or the wading pool, although the 2 little boys that were trying to play with him were quite interesting. Hopefully it won’t be this bad in Halifax next week as I’m staying in un-airconditioned residence on campus and I have been spoiled with our air conditioning here.

Wow! Congratulations on the new job! Although you’re probably bummed about having to go back to work, I bet you are excited not to be returning to that other place!
