The Big News
You may have noticed that we changed the name of the blog from the Dunns of Dartmouth. That is because we’re MOVING! To Moncton. Sometime in April!
Rick got a promotion and transfer to the Moncton office and we’re very happy to be getting a little closer to our family. We’ll definitely miss a lot here in Halifax, but overall the move will be great for us. I won’t list all the pros and cons here, but suffice it to say we talked about it a lot and we did make a list in our heads and Rick’s promotion definitely tipped the scale.
We haven’t mentioned this before because we didn’t have anything in writing until Thursday and I just gave notice at my office this morning. They are disappointed, but I think it will work out best for all of us in the end.
The for sale sign went up on our house on Saturday and we had our first showing yesterday and received an offer already. It’s a conditional offer, so hopefully it will all work out.
Our realtor paid for a stager to have a look at our place and give us tips on what to do to sell it faster and for more money. We did most of what was on her list. So maybe that paid off. I spent about $100 on plants/flowers and a couple of stools for the kitchen.
Today we splurged and got a couple of art pieces. They are gorgeous. I have been looking to buy something relatively cheap to cover the holes left by our white board (was recommended that we remove that), and was coming up with only passable stuff that I wouldn’t necessarily want to bring to the new house with us. Today we were both torn between 2 pieces by the same artist and since there was a buy one get one 50% off sale, what the hell. We got them both. They are prints transferred to canvas. And the frames are made in Canada for those who are interested, with wood from renewable forests in Quebec and Vermont (no seriously). They look great and I will post pics asap.
We have made one trip to Moncton already to do some house hunting and there are a couple of possibilities. We will likely stay on the Moncton side. We’re looking at Old and New West End, and near the Moncton Hospital, and there’s one we like in the North end. I kind of have my heart set on the one in the old west end at the moment, but we need to have another look. It comes with a piano! And a tire swing! And it’s adorable. And a lot of other things.
We are so excited! Did I mention his start date is April 16th? It is a bit flexible.
