Oliver is now 11 months old and this week started pulling himself up in the crib. His scoot has become really fast and expert and now sometimes involves getting up on his hands and knees to have a good look at something. He is quite hilarious. He still has just the 2 bottom teeth but I can see the top ones are really close now.

Marshall has become very keen on Star Wars since we watched the first one last week. Rick bought the set and we’re watching them in order that they were released, so I guess that means Episode 4 was the first one we watched. He has a yoda hat and had no idea who Yoda was until this minute but has been wearing his Yoda toque whenever possible since we found it on sale at the GAP. This week he made a book about Star Wars with a picture and titles for all the characters that he knows so far. He is now officially a Star Wars fan.

To top that off, I asked if he would like to go see the Sound of Music with me this weekend since Riverview High School is presenting it and it’s only $12 a ticket. He looked at me blankly. So I started doing a couple of the songs we used to sing together… when he was only 2. Doe a Deer…. blank stare. Remember the puppet show? yodelahee yodelayee yoelayhee-hoo! And I got the funniest look. Kind of an embarassed still-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about look with an eyeroll followed by an “okaaaaaaaaaay?”

I laughed so hard. It’s happening. At least in that moment: turning into my mother! ;)

Oliver is scooting around on his bum now with some flair. He bends one leg and leans over it, for stability, and pulls himself on the hardwood. If he falls over, no big deal: he rolls and pulls his body. However, he tires of this and would rather be sitting up.

Today he took the door off the hutch, which was mostly a surprise to me. Apparently it just lifts off.

This week he started sitting up from laying down. He is so proud of this, and wants to practice it. But only in his bed, and on the change table from what I’ve seen. All the time. So much, that he will not go down for a nap as easily as he has always done. I heard some bouncing in there the other day and went to see what was happening, and he was just so pleased to see me looking at him sitting up. Today he was fussing and then got quiet. I went up to check on him after a bit and he was passed out from sitting, kind of just fell over to the side. When he woke up crying, he was sitting again, so I can only imagine that he woke and sat right up. Right in that same position. What a nut!

I weighed him yesterday and he’s about 25lbs, 1 week shy of 11 months. My Total Baby app tells me this is 96 percentile for WHO. (90 for CDC).

Ella is adorable and talks so much and so clearly and she’s hilarious. Sometimes she is a little crazy though. Like if she doesn’t nap and she really needs one. Twice this week she freaked out and ran to the BBQ to save the cover from blowing away. She was very concerned about it blowing away for some reason. It was naptime alright.

She is a little mommy and likes to help out and lets me know when the baby is getting into something.

Marshall is learning things all the time and always full of fun facts he learned either from school or the Wild Kratts or some other highly educational tv show or video game such as his newest favourite H2O (a show about teenage mermaids!?), and the Moshi Monsters.

He loves to fly up and down the street on his scooter.

The kids all get along pretty well for the most part. Marshall and Ella often dance together to music Marshall puts on the tv from our old iphone or on the apple tv music.

Marshall and I and Oliver did our first geocache of the year in Centennial Park this week. It was fun!

Our 6 fish have been having babies… there’s a bunch of tinies and a couple of little bit biggers in there now. We’ll see what happens, but it looks like we won’t need to go back to the fish store for a while.

As a special treat for my 40th birthday year, I have booked a really exciting trip to New York City with a buddy of mine, to happen the weekend after Labour Day. For the most part, the 3 days will feature a lot of baseball, as we have tickets to 2 games of the BOS-NYY series and then my highlight, WSH-NYM. While I have visited NYC for several hours en route to Daytona Beach some 15 years ago, this will be a juicy taste of the Apple.

Other things I have lined up for this year also include a concert to see Rush in Halifax (with really good seats), my brother’s wedding with shopping in Maine along the way, and hopefully a CFL game in the Fall right here in Moncton featuring the Alouettes. Hard to beat! Will be even better when the kids are old enough to really take in major events like these.

Fasten your seatbelts… not sure what happened but it would seem I never added any pics for 2012? … until today. I’ve been picking at uploading the pics to our webalbums… it takes a long time! Finally got them done today and linked to our site under 2012 pics. Go have a look!

Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to add any captions yet. Not sure I’ll get there…

Just booked a flight for Marshall and I to visit Toronto in April. Weddings are a great time to visit the extended family. So much fun! Now if only I can find a good deal to get back home…
